Could Chelation Save You From Death By Poison?

Heavy metal kills.

For the record, we’re not talking about rock ‘n roll here. An addiction to heavy metal rock may eventually make you stone deaf, but it won’t kill you. And we’re also not talking about the traditional lead pipe used by generations of murder mystery writers as a key element in countless who-done-its.

What we are talking about is the toxic heavy metals that inevitably enter our bloodstreams and wind up accumulating in our arteries and vital organs. The sad fact is that the human blood purification system was never designed to rid the body of industrial waste.

The Creator, apparently, didn’t think we’d ever become stupid enough to stuff ourselves with destructive doses of such hardcore poisons as lead, cadmium, mercury, aluminum, manganese and others which have been linked to diseases ranging from cancer, to arteriosclerosis, to kidney and liver failure, to birth defects, to brain tumors, to Parkinson’s disease, to plain and simple death by poisoning.

Is there a solution? Yes, for many people there is. It’s an amino acid treatment protocol called chelation therapy and it has been successfully (and sometimes controversially) used for about 65 years.

Solutions, of course, are unnecessary for problems that don’t exist, so before trying chelation we recommend you check to see if you have high levels of toxic metals in your body and, if so, how far above the norm those levels are. (Trace amounts of some metals are organically present in normal, healthy bodies.)

You can check yourself with a low-cost test kit that detects the presence of free electrically active heavy-metal ions (metals which have not been neutralized by the body’s detox system) in urine. Alternatively, you or your doctor can order a hair-mineral analysis, saliva test or other laboratory procedure to measure heavy metal levels more precisely.

Since diseases like hardening of the arteries, autism, stroke, high cholesterol and kidney failure, to name just five, can be caused by one or a multitude of factors, many physicians and their “advisors” in the drug company sales departments chose to focus solely on “curing” only symptoms while ignoring the more difficult to diagnose and treat causes.

High blood pressure is a good example. The visible, obvious symptoms of the disease are such things as the mercury pressure readings on the blood pressure monitor, a reddish cast to the face when the patient is under stress, hypertension and fatigue. In minor cases, particularly if the sufferer is obese, the physician may recommend a dietary change. In most cases, however, the typical doctor will write a prescription for a patented blood-pressure drug which works by dilating the blood vessels and comes with an FDA-mandated “professional fact sheet” that lists many more potential dangerous side effects than it does benefits.

Unfortunately, many – if not most – cases of high blood pressure are fueled by an increase in oxygen-free radicals caused by heavy metal deposits in the bloodstream. These free radicals irritate blood vessel walls and cell membranes and the irritated surfaces develop a buildup of plaque that partially blocks veins and arteries and forces the heart to pump harder to force oxygenated blood through the system.

Blood pressure medications offer no cure for this condition. They may reduce the pressure by dilating the vessels and some may even reduce cholesterol and dissolve some plaque. But the heavy metals and their oxygen-free radical offspring are unaffected by the drugs, they remain in the system spreading their poison.

Chelation therapy works at ground zero, by binding to heavy metals and calcium plaque in the arteries and moving them out of the body during natural waste elimination. To better understand the difference between chelation therapy and prescription medication treatments visualize a garden overgrown by weeds. The prescription drug gets rid of the weeds temporarily by chopping down the stalks, the chelation agent eliminates the weeds permanently by pulling them out by the root.

So what about that chelation agent? What is it really? For many years, the most common chelation agent used for traditional intravenous injection treatments has been EDTA (Ethylene-Diamine-Tetra-Acetic), a man-made amino acid which superseded dimercaprol (aka BAL), itself a highly toxic compound used to treat victims of poison gas attacks in World War 1. Interestingly, treating casualties of war – in this case Navy painters who suffered lead poisoning in World War 11 – was also responsible for the widespread acceptance of EDTA, which has none of the toxic properties of dimericaprol.

Since the development of EDTA, numerous other chelation agents – most notably dimercaptosuccinic acid, a non-potentially lethal derivative of dimercaprol — have been developed and widely used, but EDTA remains the only one specifically approved by the FDA for treating lead and several other forms of heavy metal poisoning.

Though IV administration remains the only effective form of chelation therapy for treating advanced cases of life-threatening diseases such as lead and mercury poisoning, newer forms of chelation therapy using over-the-counter supplements containing EDTA in oral or suppository form have proven just as effective as IV treatments in removing heavy metal deposits from the body before they can accumulate in toxic levels.

Given the fact that prevention is always the best, as well as the safest and least expensive, medicine, virtually everyone concerned with good health and retarding or eliminating the development of progressive organ disease should consider taking an EDTA chelation preparation with their other daily supplements.

Cancer Rate Rises But Search For Cure Remains Stalled

Pestilence, war, famine, death and cancer.

The Five Horsemen of the modern Apocalypse.

Five of the most terrifying words in any language known to civilized societies.

Of those five harbingers of doom the last one, cancer, is also, according to the National Institutes of Health, a $228 billion-a-year industry with 2008 bottomline contributions ranging from $90 billion to doctors, hospitals and drug companies to $1.1 billion to the American Cancer Society.

Given that huge investment and cancer’s double-digit growth rate since the beginning of the century, it seems only reasonable to look at the Cancer Industry’s report card. To ask, in other words, Big Cancer’s executives, fund raisers and political lobbyists how we’re doing.

The answer, sad to say, is “not very well.”

Though both the incidence of new cancers and cancer death rates decreased slightly in the early years of the 21st Century, due primarily to increased public awareness of the necessity of early and regular testing for mammary, prostate and other common cancers, cancer rates are once again on the rise.

Official American Cancer Society projections for 2008, for example, were 1,437,180 new cancer cases and 565,650 deaths directly attributed to cancer. For 2010, the ACS projections increased to 1,529,560 and 569,490 – a negligible increase in deaths, but a whopping 7 percent hike in new cases.

What’s going on here? With the use of both smoking and chewing tobacco at an all-time low, with air quality in most urban areas including the L.A. Basin better now than it was four decades ago, with cancer warnings plastered on everything from electrical extension cords to gas pumps, why is the cancer rate going up?

Some people blame the economy. Unemployment, foreclosure threats, credit crunches and loss of even basic insurance coverage are major stressors, they say, and more stress invariable translates into more cases of cancer. Frankly, that’s a hard argument to contest. Whether stress actually causes cancer or whether it simply reduces the body’s ability to resist it is still unknown, but the link between the two afflictions has been indelibly established.

But there’s a second question, why is the cancer death rate still as high as it is? Percentage wise it has dropped slightly, but not nearly as much as one might expect in this age of early diagnosis, $5,000 a dose “miracle” drugs and precision radiation targeting.

Many believe the Cancer Industry itself, living large on its nearly $300 billion carcinoma-based annual earnings has a big, fat vested interest in ensuring that a.) a true cancer cure is never developed and b.) that whatever partial cures are available require prolonged, repeated and ruinously expensive courses of treatment.

Proponents of this view point out that scores of Big C lobbyists, many of them former congressmen or congressional staffers, spent millions of dollars annually to ensure an unfair hearing – and frequent legal harassment and persecution – for anyone trying to develop a cure outside the cancer establishment.

Had the drug companies and the American Medical Association been as hardcore greedy, heartless and politically powerful in the late 1940s and early 1950s as they are today, these people say, polio would still be Public Health Enemy #1 and iron lung manufacturing would still be a growth industry.

Thankfully, the times were different then. The world in the aftermath of World War II was, perhaps, a kinder, gentler place from one brief moment. Equally, or perhaps more importantly, the March of Dimes, the major “foundation” in the polio industry, was as attitudinally different from the American Cancer Society as day is from night.

Where the ACS has historically belittled, harassed, intimidated and attempted to arrange jail sentences for virtually every independent researcher who has produced evidence of a cancer cure, the March of Dimes supported out-of-the-box thinking in general and helped fund the research of a maverick named Jonas Salk in particular.

Then again, the March of Dimes was given its mission by its politically well-connected founder, who also happened to be the world’s most famous polio victim and the president who had guided the United States safely through 13 years of Depression and war. The American Cancer Society, on the other hand, founded by a group of affluent businessmen and doctors in 1913 as the American Society for the Control of Cancer, has been engaged in defending the cancer establishment for virtually all of its 97 years.

As evidence, consider the case of Dr. Royal Rife, who isolated a cancer-causing virus in the 1920s and spent the next several decades building and perfecting an oscillating light and radio wave therapy device that killed the virus in tumors without injuring any adjacent tissue.

In the early days, before Rife and his work became well known, many traditional medical researchers were more than anxious to collaborate with him and test his inventions. Highly successful clinical trials on cancer patients, many of them terminal, were conducted and reported on by such ultra-conservative bastions of research as the University of Southern California and the Northwestern Medical School.

Dr. Royal Raymond Rife Discusses His Work, Circa 1950

By late 1931 Rife and his supporters were in deep trouble, though they did not yet know it. In December of that year more than 40 prominent doctors and research scientists from around the country, including about 10 who had participated in USC’s successful trials of the Rife system, gathered to honor Rife at a banquet where he was extolled for his “battle to end disease.”

Such praise for someone with a promising cancer cure, especially coming from respected members of the scientific community, was, according to some historians, too much for the drug industry and its lackeys at the American Society for the Control of Cancer. They struck, their critics charge, and they struck hard.

Doors to research labs like those at USC were suddenly closed in Rife’s face. Local and federal law-enforcement officers raided doctors’ offices seizing Rife devices and the records of patients who had been treated with them, researchers whose tests supported Rife died under mysterious circumstances, Rife’s laboratories were destroyed by arsonists.

Dr. Rife was, of course, just one of the many scientists whose attempt to develop an alternative treatment for cancer has been thwarted by Big Cancer. Would all of these alternatives have proven to be effective had their inventors been left alone? Obviously not. Most of them would have turned out to be totally useless, exactly like 90 percent of the treatments developed by the Cancer Industry over the last century. But a few, like the Rife machine, might have grown up to be a true terminator for both cancer and other so-far incurable virus-based killers such as AIDS.

There are, the film noir cliché goes, “eight million stories in the naked city.” And almost as many in the annals of the public interest suffering at the grasping hands of the pharmaceutical and medical special interests.

Truth #1: God Heals Those Who Help Heal Themselves

Welcome to my blog. I’m Dr. Ken Simpson and I’m hoping, as we go along with these posts, to shock, amaze, anger (maybe even, occasionally, horrify), and, most of all, encourage you to recognize the bottomline truth about health care: God heals those who help heal themselves.

How can you help heal yourself? By reading, learning, thinking and liberating your mind from goose stepping in perfect cadence with every marching order issued by the multi-billion dollar drug cartels, insurance companies, medical associations and their allies in the federal bureaucracy and Congress.

Here’s a quick tip to speed you on your way to becoming a better educated, less easily intimidated, more analytical consumer of medical products and services.

The next time one of those soft-focused, ever-so-warm and fuzzy commercials for the latest prescription miracle drug flashes across your TV screen, pause the VCR on the last frame. Pick up a magnifying glass, put your nose close to the screen and read the fine print. Next, rewind and listen to the 200-word-per-minute voiceover about common side effects. Rewind and listen to it over and over until every word is clear.

Consider the problem the drug claims to solve. You’ll find that in many cases the cure is potentially a lot worse than the disease. But, the drug companies say, that’s OK. If you suffer any of those unpleasant side effects just tell your doctor. Except that some of those nasties can, even the drug companies admit, lead to “serious illness or death.” How are you supposed to report to your doctor after you’re dead?

And what about those children or spouses who may have been lovingly depicted in the commercial? Mommy, daddy, husband or wife went to the doctor to get some pills to relieve their aches and pains a bit so they could romp and play more and wound up with a perforated stomach or intestines — a not particularly rare side effect, along with increased risk of fatal heart attack and stroke, of prescription NASAID pain killers like Vioxx.

How many nostrums do the drug companies offer to ease the survivors’ pain? Plenty, as it turns out. All kinds of mood altering drugs that the manufacturers and FDA admit may actually increase suicidal thoughts in patients taking them. Just what the doctor ordered — a cliché that’s all too often ironically true in cases like this.

Excuse the tangent. Let’s start over.

Welcome to my blog. I’m Dr. Ken Simpson of Simpson Chiropractic (www.tiarca.com) in Milledgeville, Georgia. I received my B.S. in Psychology in 1976 and my Doctorate in Chiropractic in 1981.

Occasionally, my patients or other people visiting my website ask me how I arrived at the conclusion that “only 15 percent of medical interventions are supported by solid scientific evidence.” The answer is simple. I read and studied. Researched conventional medicine and alternative medicine. I learned about folk remedies and “state-of-the-art” treatment protocols.

Interestingly, you don’t have to read Latin or have a medical degree to find and digest this information. You can — and should — use online and brick-and-mortar library resources to do some studying yourself. After all, it’s your mind, your body, your life, your health. If you don’t care enough to find out everything you can about it, why should anyone else?

Anyway, one thing I discovered was that many of the ailments we suffer — from stress on up to cancer — can be cured or controlled by natural substances given to us by God as well or better than they can by the platitudes and patented medicines of the health care industry — an industry with an annual $2.3 trillion vested interest in making sure people get sick and stay sick as often and as long as possible.

Or, to put it another way, most of the top U.S. drug company CEOs earned between $20 and $35 million last year. Do you really think they’d want to derail the gravy train by producing products that actually cured people?
